With the issuing of the first marriage licenses to same-sex couples Tuesday, the District follows five states — from Iowa to Massachusetts — in allowing gay couples to marry. Same-sex couples were first able to apply for licenses in the District last Wednesday but, like all couples, had to follow the city’s three-day waiting period before getting hitched.
Rick Imirowicz and Terrance Heath, who were married Tuesday, were online Wednesday, March 10, at 1 p.m. ET to discuss the new law in the District and what it means to them and others in the GLBT community and the nation.

Acceptance does not mean everyone can do whatever HE or SHE thinks. If something is bad you do better to warn the people not legalize what they do. The principles of God are unchanging and stay the same. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. So these guys (and not only them) must repent of their sin and turn their eyes on God, not try to hide their sin. Eternity is coming fast…and judgement comes before!

As a Christian who believe in Jesus Christ as the only savior, acknowledging gays and lesbians is telling GOD is wrong. It is like telling him he was wrong when he decided a marriage be between man and women. I don’t think a Christian church should acknowledge gays, lesbians or any sinful action, since the church is the body of Christ any sinful action drags the whole body of Christ to sin. can u see that it is making Christ to sin, I believe we all have weak sides but it doesn’t mean we love to live with our weak sides rather We bring our weak sides to God; we repent our sin and ask god’s grace to walk as he likes us to walk. Christianity is not a group of perfect peoples and is not also a group of people who acknowledge their sinful thoughts and actions as right. I strongly encourage u to fight against it and if u are willing to fight or willing to do god’s will god is right their to help u.

we didn’t come to be chrstians to fullfil peoples desire, we became chrstians to be ambassodrs of jesus, to be light and salt. one might say god is loving so we should be loving, that is right but god also paied agreat price to save us from our sin (john 3:16), we should love people Enough to show them the way of life. not by acknowledging their sins or not by giving them license to exercise their sin

As a Christian, I strongly believe that allowing same-sex marriages is on Great Sin this world is going to be punished of. The Apostle Paul prophetically wrote about this in Romans 1:18 to the end of the chapter, that those who are doing this are exchanging God’s truth for a lie, they are exchanging natural relationships to unnatural ones because of their perversion. May those who have done it or those who allow it respond to my question; What Bible are you using?

In the end days many shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, heaping teachers with itching ears whose god is their own belly not having the Spirit of God but are filled with many sensual diverse demonic lusts who are clouds that carry no rain, wolves in sheep’s clothing who pervert the gospel of Christ. Romans asks the question, “Shall we continue to sin because of God’s grace? God forbid!!!” Malachi 3:6 says, “I am the Lord. I change not.” If He saw it wrong thousands of years ago then He still sees it wrong today. Several times it says in the Bible to repent and that is what we must do personally and as a nation. If we would judge ourselves we would not be judged but when we are judged we are judged so we will repent and not perish like sinners. People need to wake up!!!

I totally agree with most of the contributions here. No doubt, sexual attraction to people of same sex is most times a developed habit and it’s a weakness (sin) just like any other sin—fornication, adultery, covetousness, bearing false witness and all that but the disparity here, which has always been the crux of the matter, is that being gay is being justified and upgraded from being a sin to a life-style. That may go down well from a secular point of view but in the context of Christianity and more importantly— Christ, we must eschew from such iniquitous tendencies. If this should go down unscathed, soon enough, pedophiles and bestial freaks will be drumming their beats for support and God forbid that the “Loving” church will wrap them up in a warm embrace. Homosexuals must be loved and homosexuality must be understood not only as a deviant behavior but a weakness that can be overcomed. That is the responsibility of the church, rather than supporting the act by endorsing it through solemnization of same-sex marriages.

Ephesians 4:17-20, Romans1: 17-32, James 1:12-17, and Romans 12:1-2 shed light on this weakness. The weakness does not come from God but the person’s doing (willingly or unwillingly) of not glorifying God in their lives. Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. When we put the Word first place in our lives instead of second, third, or fourth, then we can have the faith and lifestyle that is pleasing to God according to Hebrews 11:6. When we please Him (putting Him first place) then we are glorifying Him with our lives and not dishonoring His Word. It’s harder for one’s imagination to become vain and heart to become foolish and darkened with their attention truely fixed on Him and not trying to justify their actions.

What’s sad is that the Pharisees were saying the same things I’ve read here to the first Gentile Christians in Paul’s day (Acts 15; Galatians 3). Although God had been pouring out His Spirit on the Gentiles, all over and freely, because of their faith in Him, outside of the pale of the Law, there were those who insisted the Gentiles must follow the Mosaic Law to be saved or stay saved, even though that burden was too much for even the Jews to bear. When will we stop trying to out god God? We are good at judgement but God is better at mercy and grace. He has appointed us to share the good news that Jesus Christ died and rose again as the ultimate sacrifice for Everyone’s sins. Adam introduced sin through disobedience. Jesus through obedience washed it away with his blood. He didn’t just wipe the slate clean for a new start, He threw the slate into the sea of forgetfulness or his death would have been in vain. Aren’t you grateful that our indiscretions will not condemn us? John 3:16,17 really means what it says, so why do we so angrily condemn? I study many versions KJV, NIV, MSG etc. and it’s all the same. According to Ephesians 2:8,9 we are saved by grace through faith. That’s why without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). There are 630+ Mosaic laws we ALL are guilty of and could be held accountable for everyday, even if we didn’t know it was wrong (Levitivus 5:17). But God saw fit to acquit us all. Jesus came and did what the Law could never do. It only pointed out our sins. He fulfilled God’s direct promise to Abraham that was established 430 years before angles presented the Law to Moses. As Paul said in Galatians, how can the law annul the promise that came 430 years before? Scripture says the law was the Jews keeper until Christ would come to fulfill the law, but they still failed miserably. In the Gospels, Jesus blessed Jews and Gentiles according to their faith alone. Jesus said in Matt 5:20 “For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.” The Pharisees were notorious for condemning folks when they were just as blood guilty. Let’s not be counted with them. God’s grace and peace be with us all through faith in Jesus. Hallelujah!
